Inching Along

I'm back to the idea of posting cartoons somewhat regularly. Of course, by the time I have drawn, scanned, cleaned up, and optimized the image my day is half over, and I'm really supposed to be working on a client project. This is how it goes for me-- whatever I do I worry about the twelve other things that I have not done.

Here's the cartoon.

I Did It! I Made the T-shirt!

I posted the mother-daughter, "Now that I am no longer in therapy I find that I enjoy my mother's company" t-shirt onto printfection.com, an online print-on-demand store. Check it out at http://www.printfection.com/another-day-comics.

Okay, so it only took me a few years to get it together. More will follow...

Back Again

I have been making a concerted effort to be open to ways to put my cartoons out in the world. I attended the Comic Festival in Portland this past weekend. (http://mainecomicsfestival.com/) It was fun to see who is out there and what they are doing. My friend Jeff Pert had a booth, and he has launched a fun web site. (http://www.jeff-pert.com)

The panel on the dying world of print was discouraging. However, I have some hope for the online approach, so I'll keep you posted.

Oy!

Okay, here is my annual post. It took me half an hour to figure out my log in information. I seem to be unable to remember anything any more. I had intended to get some paying work done, but instead I am compiling a master list for myself of all the online places I've signed up for so that I remember what they are and how to access them.

I wish I could draw straight into this blog so that it'd be easy to post a new comic. Maybe I'll try something quick in Flash and upload that.

By the way, I've started another blog for myself as a web developer. It lives here:

Dave Burke and Blogs

Okay, it is important to post to your blog at least once a year. Fortunately, the Vermont Consultants Network invited Dave Burke to come to speak to us neophytes about the world of blogs, podcasts, and webcasts.

Here is what came up for me:

So we found my blog, and he even added it to his RSS feeds. That means, of course, that I need to add something in order for it to show up. So, here it is.

Dave was an interesting speaker (and self-proclaimed double-geek, both as a computer programmer and library scientist), although he left most of us in the dust just trying to wrap our heads around how this blog stuff might apply to our lives, especially as consultants. For example, if I ever got around to making my web site for my web design business, then I may be able to point people to it. Or to my static comic strip site, www.anotherdaycomics.com.

Anyway, enough of the nauseating self-promotion. The talk today has given me the idea of just doing quick, one-frame cartoons and posting those as part of my blog.

Gotta go now. Dog is barking outside.

The Day After

Okay, so first I need to put in the disclaimer about my husband. Even though he was asking me to start the Brussels sprouts last night, that does not mean he is a demanding jerk. Far from it. The truth is that he had cooked a really yummy roast leg of lamb, and all I had to do was put some vegetables in a steamer.

Ah... truth is in the mind of the teller.

Meanwhile, I lay awake half of the night after dreaming about stalkers harassing me. It's no wonder I've been hiding myself for the past fifteen years.

Here is today's cartoon.

One question that has come up with this blogging is the question of frequency. I doubt I'll post a cartoon a day. Maybe one a week. We'll see. I've got a backlog to pull from, but it may be weird to jump around chronologically.

So, here's to tossing one's voice out into the Abyss.

Christmas 2006

Guess what I got for a Christmas present! Yes, you got it -- "Blogging For Dummies." I've spent the day curled up with the book, a box of chocolates, and a glass of red wine. It has been the ideal Christmas that way. (Not to mention no traveling or relatives)

Anyway, before I even get to post anything I'm being called to the kitchen by the hubby to start the Brussels sprouts.

I'm going to quickly stick up a random, unselected comic. That's what I do -- comics. Nobody sees them because I'm too much of a wimp to put them out in the world. Hence the blog.
